Softball Game Preview: Brewer Witches vs. Camden Hills Windjammers

The Brewer Witches will challenge the Camden Hills Windjammers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Brewer nor Messalonskee made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Witches walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Eagles. That's two games straight that the Witches have won by exactly three runs.

Sara Young spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Bragdon, who went 3-for-4 with two runs. Audrey Loupin also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Camden Hills and Hampden, and Camden Hills kept the tradition alive. The Windjammers won by a run and slipped past the Broncos 2-1.

Camden Hills also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Maya Stone gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

Camden Hills' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Brewer, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
