Baseball Recap: Barren County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

The Barren County Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs 6-4.

Sutton Hyde made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Barren County got a great performance from Skylar Potter as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Potter posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Axel Dysholm, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Price Thompson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Barren County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paul Laurence Dunbar struck out nine times.

Barren County's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Barren County will venture away from home to take on Lexington Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Paul Laurence Dunbar, they will welcome St. Francis at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
