Basketball Recap: Innovation Falls Despite Big Games from Carlos Naranjo and Jahniel Phillipus

Innovation was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 63-51 to the West Orange Warriors.

Innovation's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jahniel Phillipus, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds, and Carlos Naranjo, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Bielski, who posted eight points and five assists.

Even though they lost, Innovation smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive contests.

Innovation's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for West Orange, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-11.

Innovation wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 43-40 win against Orangewood Christian on the 14th. As for West Orange, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 76-52 loss against Master's Academy on the 14th.
