Basketball Recap: Jonah Pio's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Seminole Ridge over Dr. Joaquin Garcia

Seminole Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 67-44 to the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 717th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 270th).

Seminole Ridge's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonah Pio, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Sroda, who put up eight points.

Seminole Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Seminole Ridge has already played their next matchup, a 73-43 victory against Dreyfoos School of the Arts on the 22nd. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they will take on St. Thomas Aquinas in a tournament on Friday. One thing working in St. Thomas Aquinas' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 17 games.
