Football Preview: NSU University Sharks vs. Ransom Everglades Raiders
The NSU University Sharks will challenge the Ransom Everglades Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Ransom Everglades will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: NSU University extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Sharks blew past St. Brendan 42-6. The Sharks pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sabres had little chance of recovering from.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ransom Everglades). Everything went their way against Miami Springs last Friday as they made off with a 35-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
NSU University better focus on containing Matthew Guevara and Will Duncan as the pair were huge in Ransom Everglades' win. Guevara rushed for 34 yards and four touchdowns, while Duncan rushed for 118 yards on only 13 carries. Evans Branch was in the mix too, providing Ransom Everglades with one TD.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ransom Everglades' defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Edwin Carr and Coley Hucks, who racked up five sacks between them. Ransom Everglades is 2-1 when Carr posts two or more sacks, but 1-3 otherwise. The Raiders received some extra help from Branch, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for NSU University, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
