Softball Recap: Southport Comes Up Short

If Southport was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Indianapolis Arsenal Technical on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals came up short against the Roncalli Royals on Tuesday, falling 9-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Cardinals were not able to get on the board.

Southport now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Roncalli, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

When Southport and Roncalli next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Cardinals will square off against Columbus North and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Roncalli will try to stop Hagerstown's six-game winning streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Royals 2.5, the Tigers 1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
