Basketball Recap: Quinter Gets the Win

Quinter won the last time they faced Oakley and things went their way on Tuesday too. In a tight game that could have gone either way, the Quinter Bulldogs made off with a 51-50 victory over the Oakley Plainsmen. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Quinter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gunner Catura out in front who posted 13 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Catura a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colt Werth, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Quinter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Oakley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Manuel Mancia was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Quinter's record now sits at 2-0. As for Oakley, their loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Quinter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 39-37 defeat against Dighton on the 13th. As for Oakley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-42 victory against Pawnee Heights on the 13th.
