Baseball Recap: St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute Takes a Loss

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute was the 9-8 winner over Canisius when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Marauders took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Crusaders on Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Marauders have lost by exactly four runs.

Matthew Anzalone was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8-1 record this season. As for Canisius, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

While St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
