Basketball Preview: Cherokee Chiefs vs. Overbrook Rams
Cherokee is 3-0 against the Rams since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Cherokee Chiefs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Overbrook Rams at 6:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Cherokee came up short against the Scotties and fell 41-34. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Cherokee has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Overbrook waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 53-37 victory over Penns Grove. Given Overbrook's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Red Devils are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cherokee's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Overbrook, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Cherokee was able to grind out a solid victory over the Rams in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, winning 43-36. Does Cherokee have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
