Football Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Middletown Middies

The Springfield Wildcats will face off against the Middletown Middies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (Springfield 9.2, Middletown 8.3) so any points scored will be well earned.

Springfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They beat Springboro by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 21-3. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Braylon Keyes was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 158 yards and two TDs.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Springfield proved: they limited Springboro to a paltry -0.3 yards per carry. The Wildcats didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.7.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Middletown's strategy against Lebanon on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Middies blew the Warriors out of the water with a 31-0 final score. The result was nothing new for the Middies, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.

Middletown's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Springfield, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
