Volleyball Game Preview: Discovery Canyon Thunder vs. Sand Creek Scorpions

The Discovery Canyon Thunder will venture away from home to take on the Sand Creek Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Discovery Canyon is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Discovery Canyon is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Rampart, who was ranked 24th at the time (Discovery Canyon was ranked 13th). The Thunder came out on top against the Rams by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.

The victory didn't come easy: Rampart scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-22, 17-25, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Sand Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Fountain-Fort Carson on Thursday and fell 3-2.

Sand Creek took Fountain-Fort Carson into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking nine-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 15-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-6.

Sand Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Discovery Canyon, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Discovery Canyon beat Sand Creek 3-1 in their previous matchup on April 1st. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunder since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
