Baseball Game Preview: Pleasant Valley Vikings vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles

Pleasant Valley is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Del Oro is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Pleasant Valley Vikings will host the Del Oro Golden Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Pleasant Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Las Plumas, taking the game 9-4. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Thunderbirds: they've now won seven in a row.

Dylan Morgan looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Scotty McKeown was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Pierce Ledford was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Del Oro never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over Roseville. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Golden Eagles yet this season.

Roseville's batters probably weren't too happy with Kael Lumbert, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up a single walk).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Masen Belding, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Maloney, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

The win got Pleasant Valley back to even at 1-1. As for Del Oro, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
