Clearwater Central Catholic came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-2 to Northeast. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Marauders have suffered since April 23, 2024.
Clearwater Central Catholic saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Snyder, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Calvary Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Warhawks as they made off with a 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Calvary Christian also got a great performance from Grayson Gibson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. Gibson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jace Traina, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Maddox Bozeman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Calvary Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Calvary Christian pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
