Softball Recap: Three Rivers Snags 15th Win in Last 16 Games

Three Rivers had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Premont Cowboys get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Saturday. Considering the Bulldogs have won 22 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Alyson Gomez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Sydney Ruiz was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Nayelli Longinos was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Three Rivers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in six consecutive games.

Three Rivers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Premont, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Three Rivers will square off against Ganado on Saturday. The Indians will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Premont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
