Baseball Recap: Rancho Verde Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Rancho Verde, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rancho Christian Eagles a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Eagles last Tuesday, they had to take a 9-8 loss.

The result came thanks to Julian Dominguez's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rancho Verde is 7-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Sebas Cazares was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Jacob Cabral was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Rancho Verde is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for Rancho Christian, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rancho Verde will welcome King at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rancho Christian, they will square off against Hillcrest at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
