Baseball Recap: Rocky Bayou Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rocky Bayou Christian took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Baker, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Rocky Bayou Christian had just enough and edged out Baker 10-9 on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on three straight.

Joichi Sakurabata looked comfortable as he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Rocky Bayou Christian let Matthew Duplechain and Henry Baltz run wild. Duplechain scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Baltz scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, Duplechain posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Cole Hoskins also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Rocky Bayou Christian's record is now 6-4-1. As for Baker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.

Looking ahead, Rocky Bayou Christian will venture away from home to challenge Lighthouse Private Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Lighthouse Private Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Rocky Bayou Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Baker, they will be playing at home against Ponce De Leon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Baker has won five straight at home, while Ponce De Leon won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
