Softball Recap: John Paul II Catholic Has No Trouble Against Wayne Christian

John Paul II Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wayne Christian, but they still couldn't quite topple them. John Paul II Catholic was the clear victor by a 16-5 margin over Wayne Christian on Tuesday. The Saints not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since February 28th.

Logan Smith spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Bailey Tyndall was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Phoebe Balot also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

John Paul II Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne Christian only posted an OBP of .348.

The victory got John Paul II Catholic back to even at 5-5. As for Wayne Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3.

John Paul II Catholic wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 19-5 win against Arendell Parrott Academy on the 26th. As for Wayne Christian, they have also already played their next match, a 9-5 defeat against John Paul II Catholic on the 27th.
