Basketball Game Preview: Batesville Bulldogs vs. North Decatur Chargers

Batesville and North Decatur are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Bulldogs will welcome the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Decatur took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Batesville, who comes in off a win.

Batesville is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing South Dearborn: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bulldogs blew the Knights out of the water with a 50-15 final score. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-8.

Batesville can attribute much of their success to Maggie Jelinek, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Molly Gesell, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 15 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Gesell a new career-high. Kaylin Kathman was another key player, putting up five points along with five assists and five steals.

Meanwhile, North Decatur had to suffer through a 65-19 loss at the hands of Greensburg. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The win got Batesville back to even at 1-1. As for North Decatur, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
