Softball Recap: Garden Grove Comes Up Short

Garden Grove came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-0 to the El Dorado Golden Hawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Argonauts of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2017.

Garden Grove saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Chavez, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Garden Grove dropped their record down to 4-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for El Dorado, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7.

Garden Grove and El Dorado could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Garden Grove will take on Mayfair at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday down 367 places (574 vs. 207). Meanwhile, El Dorado (ranked 128th) will meet Sonora (ranked 33rd) at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
