Basketball Game Preview: Adams City Eagles vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes + How To Watch

The Adams City Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Smoky Hill Buffaloes at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Adams City is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 52-28 margin over Pomona on Thursday. The Eagles not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since January 18th (when they won 37-12).

Arianna Blue had another great game (as she tends to do), dropping a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Kendra Roberson was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Adams City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

While Smoky Hill didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They took their contest on Thursday with ease, bagging a 69-7 win over Gateway. The Buffaloes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 29 points or more this season.

Adams City better keep an eye on Ari Boyd. She was instrumental in Smoky Hill's win, putting up 31 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which Boyd has scored at least a third of the Buffaloes' points. Another player making a difference was Leilani Gordon, who posted 17 points.

Smoky Hill's record is now 5-1. As for Adams City, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Adams City was taken down by Smoky Hill 45-8 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
