Woodland entered their tilt with Machias on Monday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bulldogs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 on Friday.

The victory didn't come easy: Machias scored at least 12 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 24-26, 15-12.

Kaylin Hamilton paced Woodland's offense, picking up nine kills. Hamilton got some help from Jordyn Phelps and her 27 assists. Hamilton was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Despite the defeat, Machias saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Myra Look had five digs and four aces. Look is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Woodland's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Machias, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Woodland didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Bucksport on the 8th. As for Machias, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Jonesport-Beals on the 9th.
