Softball Game Preview: Muncie Central Bearcats vs. Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos

Muncie Central hasn't had much luck against Lafayette Jefferson recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Bearcats will challenge the Bronchos at 10:00 a.m. Muncie Central has given up an average of 20 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Muncie Central is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Daleville, falling 23-3.

Lafayette Jefferson came out on top against Benton Central on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. The Bronchos were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Bison. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bronchos considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Kenzie Hutchison was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Thomas, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Lafayette Jefferson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

The victory got Lafayette Jefferson back to even at 8-8. As for Muncie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-13.

Muncie Central suffered a grim 24-3 defeat to Lafayette Jefferson in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Bearcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
