Softball Recap: Hall Comes Up Short

Hall extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 7-21. They came up short against the Erie-Prophetstown Cardinals, falling 18-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 two weeks ago.

Hall saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Delphi, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI. Sydney Mautino also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

As for Erie-Prophetstown, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-10. Considering they have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Erie-Prophetstown's side, Isabella Olvera was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI and three runs. Those six RBI gave Olvera a new career-high. Wynn Renkes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hall will square off against Fieldcrest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.33 runs per game on average), something the Red Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Erie-Prophetstown, they will challenge Morrison at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
