Basketball Recap: Olympian Comes Up Short

After soaring to 64 points the game before, Olympian was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They were outmatched by the Montgomery Aztecs and fell 69-29. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Olympian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tristan Anderson posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last six games he's played.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montgomery to victory, but perhaps none more so than JJ Sanchez, who went 6 of 10 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Devin Hamilton, who went 7 for 9 to rack up 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Olympian's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 19-4. As for Montgomery, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.

Olympian has already played their next match, a 66-38 win against Eastlake on the 7th. As for Montgomery, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-49 victory against San Diego on the 8th.
