Softball Game Preview: Dobyns-Bennett Indians vs. Unicoi County Blue Devils

The Dobyns-Bennett Indians will face off against the Unicoi County Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Dobyns-Bennett will be strutting in after a victory while Unicoi County will be coming in after a loss.

Dobyns-Bennett is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Sullivan East get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Monday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Unicoi County's offense. They fell just short of West Ridge by a score of 1-0 on Monday. The Blue Devils' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Lela Byrd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

Unicoi County's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Dobyns-Bennett, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.
