Softball Recap: Pershing County Takes a Loss

Pershing County extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 13-9. They came up short against the Yerington Lions, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-8 loss on Saturday.

As for Yerington, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Yerington's part, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Kays, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Kays a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Triplett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pershing County will challenge Sierra Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season. As for Yerington, they will take on Battle Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Longhorns have now posted at least ten runs in their last 11 contests.
