Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Ithaca

Ithaca hadn't done well against Hemlock recently (they were 0-7-1 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Yellowjackets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Huskies, sneaking past 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Yellowjackets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Brady Paradise made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Paradise was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Connor McMurphy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ithaca's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Carsen Shankel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Ithaca's record is now 4-2. As for Hemlock, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Ithaca beat the Huskies by a score of 1-0 later that day.
