Volleyball Recap: Thomas Worthington Takes a Loss

After flying high against Grove City on Tuesday, Thomas Worthington came back down to earth. The CARDINALS came up short against the St. Francis DeSales Stallions on Thursday, falling 3-0. It was the first time this season that the CARDINALS let down their fans at home.

While Thomas Worthington was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into St. Francis DeSales' winning margin in every set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-19, 25-22.

Annabelle Morse paced Thomas Worthington's offense, picking up five kills. Morse got some help from Sydney Roberts and her ten assists. Ashley Shifflette controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Leading St. Francis DeSales to victory were Gwen Stein and Gabby Winkler. Stein had 14 digs and five assists, while Winkler had six digs. That's the most digs Stein has posted over her last five matchups. Reagan Sanders also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Thomas Worthington's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for St. Francis DeSales, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Thomas Worthington and St. Francis DeSales will both be playing Worthington Kilbourne the next time they take the court. The Stallions will head out to face the Wolves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the CARDINALS will head out to face them at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
