Softball Recap: Duxbury Takes a Loss

Duxbury extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 11-8 in the process. They lost 9-2 to the Marshfield Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 last Tuesday.

Catherine Grimaldi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Marshfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Considering they have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Marshfield's side, Caroline Arruda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Arruda has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Adams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Sofia Blanco, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Duxbury nor Marshfield have any future games scheduled.
