Preview: Carter Cowboys vs. Sulphur Springs Wildcats

The Carter Cowboys will face off against the Sulphur Springs Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Carter's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches.

Carter put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Wilmer-Hutchins with a sharp 37-12 victory. 37 seems to be a good number for Carter as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

It was another big night for Kaeden Landry, who rushed for 152 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Landry hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for three straight games.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Sulphur Springs' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 30-16 to Anna. While losing is never fun, Sulphur Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Anna is ranked 85th).

Carter's win lifted them to 7-3 while Sulphur Springs' defeat dropped them down to 8-2.

Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Carter has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 213.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sulphur Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 183.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other football content.

Carter didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sulphur Springs when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 37-33 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Sulphur Springs' Cj Williams, who rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Carter to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
