Baseball Recap: Thornton Comes Up Short

Thornton dropped to 4-6 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Crete-Monee Warriors, falling 17-2. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Crete-Monee, their record now sits at 6-8. They haven't had any issues with Thornton recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

For Crete-Monee's part, they gave Adonys Ferrell the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Crete-Monee got a massive performance out of Keegan Quaderer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Quaderer a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Keyshon James, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Crete-Monee beat Thornton by a score of 13-0 on Wednesday.
