Basketball Recap: Ritchie County Snags Ninth Victory in Last 12 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Ritchie County walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 49-28 margin over the Doddridge County Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 21 points or more this season.

Rae Rupert had a dynamite game for Ritchie County, dropping a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Rupert continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Bush, who shot 64% from the field en route to 15 points.

Doddridge County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aleigh Cheeseman, who posted ten points and six boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Ritchie County is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. Doddridge County's loss dropped their record down to 15-9.

Looking ahead, Ritchie County will face off against St. Marys at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive. Doddridge County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
