Baseball Recap: John Marshall Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

John Marshall got themselves on the board against East Fairmont on Friday, but East Fairmont never followed suit. They blew past the Bees 10-0. The Monarchs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2024 (when they won 12-2).

Hayden Hughes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of John Marshall's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayden Astipalitis, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last eight matchups. Cain Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The last five games the Patriots have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for East Fairmont, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckhannon-Upshur at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bees are facing the Buccaneers at the right time seeing as the Buccaneers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
