Preview: Nash Central Bulldogs vs. Clinton Dark Horses
Nash Central has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Clinton Dark Horses at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Nash Central had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-68 win over the Bears.
James Rodgers continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 313 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 13.0 yards per carry. Rodgers really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Javaris Jones was another major influence, as he rushed for 152 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, Clinton put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Southeast Alamance at home to the tune of 42-7. Fans of Clinton have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Josiah Robinson and Amaris Williams were among the main playmakers for Clinton as the former rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown on only six carries and the latter rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Clinton also got a significant boost from Tremayne Ashford, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 91 yards.
Nash Central pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Clinton, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Nash Central and Clinton have no problem gaining yardage. Nash Central has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 353.9 total yards per game. However, it's not like Clinton struggles in that department as they've been even better at 426.4 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
