Softball Game Preview: Triad Knights vs. Granite City Warriors

Triad has gone a perfect 5-0 against Granite City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Knights will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 4:15 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Triad's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Civic Memorial on Thursday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Granite City didn't have quite enough to beat Alton on Thursday and fell 3-1.

Granite City saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Milyn Roehr, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Granite City has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Triad hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Granite City struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Triad was able to grind out a solid win over Granite City when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 8-3. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
