Softball Recap: Sierra Gets the Win

Sierra came out on top against Granite Hills on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Chieftains skirted past the Grizzlies 7-6. With that victory, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Naliyah Gibson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenley Terry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sierra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.

Sierra moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Granite Hills, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sierra will welcome Hoover at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Granite Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Avenal at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buccaneers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
