The Glacier Wolfpack are taking a road trip to take on the Big Sky Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Glacier is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Glacier will head out to face Big Sky after giving up their first home loss of the season on Saturday. The Wolfpack fell 8-5 to Russell.
Kaeden Kahler was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryne Gillette, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Big Sky faced Flathead in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Braves 15-4. Considering the Eagles have won four games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ethan Paugh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Paugh was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Colter Nicolarsen was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Mathew Doty was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Big Sky has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-1-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Glacier, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Glacier has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .454. However, it's not like Big Sky struggles in that department as they've averaged .542. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
