Softball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Zion Christian Academy). They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over South Haven Christian on Thursday. The Eagles have beaten South Haven Christian the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest South Haven Christian has come to flipping the script.

Addison White made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Marleigh McWilliams was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. Leighla Rains was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Zion Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Zion Christian Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Haven Christian, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
