Football Recap: Brother Rice Starts Season with Win Against Valparaiso

Brother Rice gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 43-19 margin over the Valparaiso Vikings. With the Crusaders ahead 28-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Jaylin Green was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 118 yards and two TDs on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of CJ Gray, who threw for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Valparaiso's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gage Finlay, who rushed for 95 yards and one score, and Jimmy Parisi, who gained 96 total yards and a touchdown.

Valparaiso's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Brother Rice didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-0 win against Marist on the 5th. As for Valparaiso, they have also already played their next contest, a 28-0 victory against La Porte on the 5th.
