Baseball Recap: Canton Drops Season-High Score on Gentry

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canton). They were the clear victors by a 22-10 margin over the Gentry Rams on Thursday. Considering the Tigers have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Elijah Kiner was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chrishawn Grant, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Canton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Canton's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Gentry, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Coming up, Canton will head out to challenge Yazoo City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.3 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Gentry, they will venture away from home to face off against Cleveland Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
