Basketball Recap: Rector Cougars vs. East Poinsett County Warriors

Rector lost against East Poinsett County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Rector Cougars fell to the East Poinsett County Warriors 70-66. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

It was another big night for Jacob Gaines, who went 10 for 15 en route to 28 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards for East Poinsett County. Those 28 points gave Gaines a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Blagg, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Rector's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for East Poinsett County, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rector will take on Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Poinsett County, they will square off against Corning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
