Basketball Recap: Halifax Academy Vikings vs. Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans
Halifax Academy fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans by a score of 54-45 on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 61-48 back in December of 2024.

Halifax Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Landon Peoples out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Peoples is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Thad Harris, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points along with seven steals and six assists.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Stovall, who posted 20 points and three steals. Those 20 points gave Stovall a new career-high. M.J. Wright was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.
Halifax Academy's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-11. As for Kerr-Vance Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Halifax Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 86-42 defeat against Fayetteville Academy on the 25th. Kerr-Vance Academy has also already played their next contest, a 74-21 loss against Harrells Christian Academy on the 25th.
