Baseball Recap: Southeast Takes a Loss

Southeast extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-14-2 in the process. They came up short against the Heights Falcons, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Golden Buffalo have lost by exactly ten runs.

Jacob Brannan was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That run was his first of the season. Brody Crane was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double.

As for Heights, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. The result was nothing new for Heights, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Heights' side, Kameron Konda tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Heights let Kingston Matchett and Dylan Van Lanen run wild. Matchett got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Van Lanen got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Matchett has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Slait Herrman, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and two runs.

Coming up, Southeast will square off against Kapaun Mt. Carmel on Tuesday. As for Heights, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
