Recap: Chico Panthers vs. Foothill Cougars
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Chico Panthers walked away with it. They came out on top against Foothill by a score of 28-21 on Friday. The win was nothing new for Chico as they're now sitting on six straight.
Dion Coleman was a one-man wrecking crew for Chico as he rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Coleman was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Jaden Neugebauer was another key contributor, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Foothill's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Hall, who rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Poulsen, who rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Chico's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.3 points per game. As for Foothill, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Chico will be playing in front of their home fans against Pleasant Valley at 7:00 p.m. on November 25th. Pleasant Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 121 points over their last three matchups. Foothill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
