Recap: Patuxent Panthers vs. Calvert Cavaliers
The Patuxent Panthers can finally bid farewell to their 20-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They secured a 32-27 W over Calvert. That 32-27 margin sets a new team best for Patuxent this season.
It was another big night for Ailish Fockler, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Patuxent's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Kern, who scored five points along with five assists.
Despite the loss, Calvert saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Kidwell scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Kidwell scored a full 63% of Calvert's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Patuxent's victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-4. As for Calvert, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-6 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Patuxent will head out on the road to face off against Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Calvert will be home for the holidays to greet Chopticon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Chopticon is ranked 181st, while Calvert is ranked 157th).
