Football Recap: Edwin Hidalgo Key Part of Team Effort in Indians Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Passaic). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 32-30 victory over the Teaneck Highwaymen on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Highwaymen: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Passaic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Edwin Hidalgo, who rushed for 163 yards while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Those 163 rushing yards gave Hidalgo a new career-high. Jamari Miller was another key player, rushing for 28 yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Passaic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in four consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Teaneck lost, don't look at Jayden Castro. Despite the final result, he rushed for 29 yards and two TDs. Castro also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending one pass. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jonah Flournoy, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Passaic's record is now 2-3. As for Teaneck, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.

Passaic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-14 victory against Eastside on the 3rd. As for Teaneck, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on River Dell at 6:00 p.m. on the 10th.
