Basketball Game Preview: Belen Eagles vs. St. Pius X Sartans

Belen hasn't had much luck against St. Pius X recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Belen Eagles will welcome the St. Pius X Sartans at 7:00 p.m.

Belen is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They fell 51-39 to Albuquerque Academy. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Chargers are ranked 18th).

Meanwhile, St. Pius X didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Taos on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 46-40 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sartans.

Belen's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for St. Pius X, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.

Belen was dealt a bruising 64-35 defeat at the hands of St. Pius X in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Belen was down 37-15.
