Football Recap: Jefferson Davis Academy Comes Up Short

Jefferson Davis Academy and King Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Jefferson Davis Academy had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Knights, falling 74-28. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.

Jefferson Davis Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reece Still, who picked up 122 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Harrison Ray did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 131 receiving yards.

King Academy found their leader in sophomore Joseph Morse, who rushed for 216 yards and four scores on only 15 carries. Morse's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Elijah Hutto was another major influence, as he rushed for six yards and ran in a TD.

Jefferson Davis Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for King Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Jefferson Davis Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for King Academy, they will challenge Laurens Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Morse and Caleb Hardy.
