Cozad is 1-7 against Broken Bow since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cozad Haymakers are taking a road trip to challenge the Broken Bow Indians at 7:00 p.m. Cozad knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Broken Bow likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Cozad made easy work of Chase County and carried off a 46-24 victory. Given the Haymakers' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Longhorns are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Noah Shoemaker was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 57 yards and two touchdowns. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 54 yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cozad was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Cozad's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Kellen Shoemaker and Noah.

Meanwhile, Broken Bow hadn't done well against Ord recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Broken Bow walked away with a 21-14 win over Ord. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Cozad's record now sits at 3-1. As for Broken Bow, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Things could have been worse for Cozad, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 28-12 loss to Broken Bow in their previous matchup back in September of 2023. Can Cozad avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
