Basketball Recap: Northwood Temple Academy Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Northwood Temple Academy entered their game against Harrells Christian Academy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Northwood Temple Academy Eagles received a blow as they fell 79-61 to the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Crusaders are ranked 17th).

Northwood Temple Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenny Vera, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Kindle, who posted 17 points.

Harrells Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Antonio Mckoy led the charge by dropping a double-double on 28 points and 12 boards. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mckoy has scored at least a third of Harrells Christian Academy's points. Dashaun Mckoy was another key player, going 6 of 12 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds.

Northwood Temple Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6. As for Harrells Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Northwood Temple Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 83-38 win against Wake County Academy HomeSchool on the 4th. As for Harrells Christian Academy, they will square off against Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harrells Christian Academy is facing Faith Christian at the right time seeing as Faith Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
